The first railway line in the country was laid there in 1899, which connected Uyuni with Antofagasta and which served to transport minerals such as tin, silver and even gold. The potential of Huanchaca's silver mines meant that the railroad soon became the backbone of industrial development. 2 Colchani The town of Colchani 23 km.
