Description

Explore the Salar de Uyuni on a private tour from Uyuni. Visit the eerie Train Cemetery, the small settlement of Colchani, and the Isla Incahuasi. Enjoy a glass of wine as you watch the sunset over the salt flats. Start your private excursion at 10:30 AM with a drive to the Salar de Uyuni. The first stop is the eerie 'Train Cemetery,' located on the outskirts of Uyuni. Here, you can see Bolivia's first locomotives and learn about their history connecting several major cities. Now corroded over time by the strong salt winds in this desert area, they provide a fantastic photo opportunity. Next, visit the small settlement of Colchani, where you will also find salt crafts and textile art made from llama and alpaca wool—excellent souvenirs to take home. Take photos as you navigate the vast white expanse of salt, wade through the 'Ojos de Agua Salada' (saltwater eyes), and visit a hotel made entirely of salt that now serves as a museum-restaurant, the Flags of the World (where you can bring your flag and display it for free), and a Dakar race monument. After a morning of exploration, lunch will be served near 'Isla Incahuasi' (Fish Island). Afterward, you'll have time to hike to the top of the island to see giant cacti and rock formations made of petrified coral. Then, take some time to organize your group for fun distorted perspective photos on the dazzling white surface of the salt flats—playing with the scene will surely yield some fun and memorable pictures! Finally, head to a spacious area to experience the unique sight of a beautiful sunset over the salt flats, with its dazzling colors spreading across the salar, enjoying it with a glass of wine. Return to the city of Uyuni by 7:15 PM.
