Description

Embark on a 3-day tour of the Uyuni Salt Flats and the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve. Explore the salt flats, see the Train Cemetery, and visit the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve. Day 1: Start your excursion at 10:30 AM with a drive to the Salar de Uyuni. The first stop is the eerie 'Train Cemetery,' located on the outskirts of Uyuni. Next, visit the small settlement of Colchani (home to salt miners' workshops next to the salt flat), where you will also find salt crafts and textile art made from llama and alpaca wool. These make excellent souvenirs to take home. Take photos as you navigate the vast white expanse of salt, wade through the 'Salt Water Eyes,' and visit a hotel made entirely of salt, which currently operates as a museum-restaurant, as well as the World Flags area (where you can bring your flag and place it there for free) and a monument dedicated to the Dakar Rally. After a morning of exploration, lunch will be served on the way. Following that, you will have time for a hike to the top of Incahuasi Island to see giant cacti and rock formations made of petrified coral. Next, take time to organize your group for fun photos that distort perspective and proportion on the dazzling white surface of the salt flat, playing with the scene—you're sure to capture some amusing and memorable shots! Finally, head to a wide area to experience the unique opportunity of watching a beautiful sunset over the salt flat, spreading its dazzling colors across Salar de Uyuni, while enjoying it with a glass of wine. Day 2: Departure at 6:30 AM for breakfast. The first stop is Chiguana Desert, on the southern side of Salar de Uyuni, surrounded by volcanoes like Ollagüe, which is still active and visible from the viewpoint. Then continue along the rocky path to visit: Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiarcota lagoons where you can see flamingos. After lunch, enter the 'Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve,' visit Siloli Desert (the highest and driest in the world), and take a photo next to the 'Rock Tree' (a lava rock formation). Before reaching your final destination, stop at the viewpoint of Laguna Roja to see more pink flamingos in their natural habitat and admire this intensely red lake. Day 3: Start early around 5:00 AM to visit Sol de Mañana Geyser and walk among fumaroles and steaming craters filled with boiling mud pots. Afterward, you'll have the chance to bathe in outdoor hot springs with water at 35°C. The next sights to appreciate are Dalí Desert and Green and White Lagoons. Then return to Uyuni passing through beautiful landscapes along the way while having a picnic lunch by the roadside. On your way back, pass through Valle de las Rocas and make a brief stop in San Cristóbal village for restroom use. Arrive in Uyuni between 5:45 PM and 6:45 PM.
