Description

Explore the natural beauty of the Bolivian Altiplano. 5-days tour from San Pedro de Atacama, Laguna Colorada, Visit the Uyuni Salt Flats, the Sajama National Park. Observe the flamingos, geysers, and hot springs of the wild desert. Day 1: San Pedro de Atacama - Laguna Colorada - Siloli Desert - San Cristobal Begin your tour with a pick-up from your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. Cross the border into Bolivia and visit the Siloli Desert, whose bizarre wind-carved rock formations sometimes appear to defy gravity. Today will be a tour along lagoons, whose waters are colored deep shades of red, blue, and even white. The most famous is Laguna Colorada, whose waters are made a deep red by the flagellate algae Dunaliellasalina and a high ocher level. The lake receives its water from hot springs and runoff from wetlands. The desert is surrounded by volcanoes which provide a dramatic spectacle. As the light plays on them, the ancient hardened lava flows sometimes resemble water flowing down their flanks. Day 2: Uyuni Salt Flats - Isla Incahuasi - Uyuni City Begin the day with an early departure with a private four-wheel drive car. Visit the train cemetery and the Uyuni Salt Flats, considered as the world's largest deposit of salt. Visit 'Isla Incahuasi' and see the island’s unique fauna, including viscachas, colibris, lizards, and insects. See huge cacti, reaching seven or eight meters in height, also grow on the island. In the afternoon, cross the salt flats and arrive in Tawa. Day 3: Tawa - Llica - Sajama Board the vehicles and head north following the route towards Sacabaya. See the chullpas, tombs today empty of treasures that for years they were exposed to looting. In these unpopulated regions, the dunes, white sand, and crystalline rivers, the earth becomes heavy due to the presence of salt and sand. See the majestic multicolored chullpas, which rise from the entire region, and the two lagoons, Macaya and Saquewa, populated by at least three different species of flamingos. A few steps from the church is the Macaya viewpoint, you can see a lagoon with the same name. At the end of the day, arrive in Sajama National Park. Day 4: Sajama - Full Day Hike around the Sajama National Park After breakfast, begin the hike towards the geysers, crossing beautiful wetlands with hundreds of llamas and beautiful views of two volcanoes, Pomarape and Parinacota. In the afternoon, walk to the hot springs and return to the Sajama hotel. Day 5: Sajama - La Paz Leave towards La Paz, on the way visit one of the oldest churches in the Altiplano, the Sistine Chapel of the Altiplano for its beautiful paintings inside the church. Later, head towards La Paz, crossing beautiful towns and arriving in La Paz at the end of the afternoon. Hotel Not Included.
