Description

day 1 Train Cemetery We begin our tour by exploring the fascinating Train Cemetery, located on the outskirts of the city. This impressive historical site allows us to remember and visualize the golden age of the region's mining industry. The Town of Colchani is a small community located on the shores of the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, where locals are dedicated to the exploitation of salt and the creation of crafts. In this town, you can see how the inhabitants take part of the salt extracted from the salt flat and use it to create beautiful and original crafts. Salar de Uyuni This place is considered the largest salt desert in the world and will surprise you with its beauty. You will discover a unique landscape, surrounded by mountains and volcanoes up to 5000 meters high. As you tour this place, you will be able to see impressive optical illusions that are accentuated during the rainy season. In addition, you will find the 'Ojos de Agua', small salt eruptions that will help you learn about the formation process of this infinite sea of salt. During your tour, you will visit the famous 'Hotel de Sal', the first of its kind, which currently functions as a museum. This hotel is completely built of salt, from its walls to its furniture and roof. In addition, you will have the opportunity to take perspective photos in the immensity of the Salar, an experience that you will not be able to forget! Incahuasi Island An essential stop on our tour of the Salar de Uyuni is Incahuasi Island, also known as the 'Cactus Island'. This island is located in the center of the salt flat and is surrounded by a stunning panoramic view of the landscape. Day 2 Ollague Volcano We will start the day with a delicious breakfast to recharge our batteries before leaving at 8:00 am towards our next destination: the impressive Ollagüe Volcano. Located on the border between Bolivia and Chile, in the majestic Andes Mountains, this volcano reaches an impressive altitude of 5,868 meters above sea level. After enjoying the panoramic views and photographing the imposing silhouette of the volcano, we will head south to visit the beautiful lagoons of Cañapa and Hedionda. Uyuni During the way back to Uyuni. Firstly, we will visit the impressive Valley of Rocks, where we can see unique rock formations that have been shaped by wind erosion over time, creating surprising figures that defy the imagination. Secondly, we will visit the colonial church of San Cristóbal, built entirely in volcanic stone and large in size, it is a sample of the religious architecture of the time. Without a doubt, these two places will be an enriching experience to learn more about the history and geology of the region, and also capture impressive photographs to remember this unforgettable trip and finally we will say goodbye in the same place.
