Description

The Uros Islands, a group of 80 islands built on totora reeds, an aquatic plant that grows on the surface of the lake. These islands are inhabited by the Uro people, one of the oldest cultures on the continent, who still preserve some of their traditions. Their subsistence is based mainly on fishing and hunting, in addition to the production of wool fabrics for tapestries and stuffed animals. - Itinerary: • The tour starts with pick-up from the hotel, located near or within the historic center of Puno, between 6:30 and 7:00 am. Our first stop will be at the floating island of the Uros, where we will receive a brief guide and learn more about the experiences of the area. • After exploring the Uros, we will continue our journey to the island of Taquile, where we will enjoy breathtaking views. Here, we will enjoy a delicious lunch in one of the family homes. We will tour the area and visit the main square of the island, where we will be able to admire the islanders wearing their typical costumes. • Afterwards, we will return to the port of Puno, arriving approximately at 15:30 hours.
