Description

Explore the Salar de Uyuni on a 2-night, 1-day tour from La Paz. Travel by bus to Uyuni, and enjoy a guided tour of the salt flats. See the Train Cemetery, Colchani, and the Dakar Monument. Take a hike to the top of Incahuasi Island and watch the sunset over the salt flats. Day 1: Head to the bus office at 8:30 PM for registration. Then, board the bus from La Paz to Uyuni at 9:00 PM. Enjoy dinner, breakfast, a bottle of water, a hot drink, heating, restrooms, a polar blanket, Wi-Fi, and a first aid kit on board. Day 2: Arrive in Uyuni at 7:30 AM. Have free time to buy snacks, water, and other items for your trip. Then, head to the office, 1 block from the bus station. Begin your tour at 10:30 AM with a trip to the Salar de Uyuni. Your first stop is the eerie Train Cemetery on the outskirts of Uyuni. Then, visit the small settlement of Colchani, where you can see salt workshops and buy souvenirs made of salt, as well as textile art made with llama and alpaca wool. Take photos as you navigate the vast white expanse of salt, wade through the 'Saltwater Eyes,' and visit a hotel made entirely of salt, which is now used as a museum-restaurant. See the World Flags (where you can bring your own flag and put it there for free) and the Dakar Monument. After a morning of exploration, enjoy lunch on the way. Then, have time for a hike to the top of Incahuasi Island to see giant cacti and rock formations made of petrified coral. Due to the rainy season (from January to March), it is not possible to access Incahuasi Island. Next, take your time to organize your group to take fun photos distorting perspective and proportion on the dazzling white surface of the salt flats. Finally, head to a wide area to see a beautiful sunset over the salt flats, extending its dazzling colors across the Salar de Uyuni, and enjoy it with a glass of wine. Return to the office in Uyuni between 7:15 PM and 7:45 PM. Then, head to the bus office on your own at 8:30 PM. Depart on the bus from Uyuni to La Paz at 9:00 PM. Day 3: Arrive in La Paz between 6:15 AM and 6:35 AM.
