Description

Day 1: Start your excursion at 10:30 AM with a drive to the Salar de Uyuni. The first stop is the eerie 'Train Graveyard,' located on the outskirts of Uyuni. Next, visit the small settlement of Colchani (salt miner workshops by the salt flat), where you can also find salt crafts and textiles made from llama and alpaca wool. These make excellent souvenirs to take home. Take photos as you navigate the vast white salt expanse, wade through the 'Salt Water Eyes,' and also visit: a hotel entirely made of salt that is currently used as a museum-restaurant, the World Flags (where you can bring your own flag and place it there for free), and a Dakar Rally Monument. After a morning of exploration, lunch will be served on the way. Afterward, you’ll have time to hike to the top of Incahuasi Island to see giant cacti and petrified coral rock formations. Next, take time to organize your group for fun photos distorting perspective and proportion on the dazzling white surface of the salt flat. Playing with the scene will surely give you fun and memorable photos! Finally, head to a spacious area to experience the unique beauty of a sunset over the salt flat, with its stunning colors spreading across the Salar de Uyuni, and enjoy it with a glass of wine. Accommodation: Agencha Hostel: rooms with 3, 4, 5, and 6 beds + shared bathrooms / no Wi-Fi Day 2: Departure at 6:30 AM for breakfast. The first stop is the Chiguana Desert, on the southern side of the Salar de Uyuni, surrounded by volcanoes such as Ollagüe, which is still active and visible from the viewpoint. Then continue on the rocky road to visit: Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiarcota Lagoons, where you can see flamingos. After lunch, enter the 'Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve,' visit the Siloli Desert (the highest and driest in the world), and take a photo next to the 'Rock Tree' (a lava rock formation). Before reaching the final destination, stop at the Red Lagoon viewpoint to see more pink flamingos in their natural habitat and admire this intensely red lake. Accommodation: Huayllajara Hostel, shared 6-bed rooms + shared bathrooms, no hot water (to protect the national park) / no Wi-Fi Day 3: Start early, around 5:00 AM, to visit the Sol de Mañana Geyser and walk among fumaroles and steaming craters filled with boiling mud pots. Afterward, you’ll have the opportunity to bathe in an outdoor hot spring with water at 35°C. Next, appreciate the Dali Desert and the Green and White Lagoons. Then, return to Uyuni passing through beautiful landscapes on the way and have a picnic lunch by the roadside. On the way, pass through the Valley of Rocks and make a brief stop in the village of San Cristóbal for a bathroom break. Arrive in the city of Uyuni between 5:45 PM and 6:45 PM. OPTIONAL: Upgrade the 2-Night Hostel by adding an extra fee on the Final Payment Panel.
