Description

Explore the Chacaltaya Mountain and the Moon Valley on a full-day tour from La Paz. Admire the views of the Huayna Potosi and Illimani mountains, Lake Titicaca, and the city of El Alto. Start your day with a hotel pickup at 8:30 AM and head directly to Chacaltaya, a mountain with an altitude of 5,300 meters. More than 80% of the Chacaltaya glacier melted between 1987 and 2007. The glacier was one of the highest in South America. Upon arrival at the refuge, hike to the top of the mountain. Admire the wonderful view of the Huayna Potosi and Illimani mountains, Lake Titicaca, and parts of the city of El Alto. Walk up and observe all the scenery for about an hour and a half, then head back to the car to leave for the Valley of the Moon. Arrive at 1:30 PM at the Moon Valley. This valley has a particular rock formation similar to the lunar surface. Observe different types of trees and plants native to the area, including the San Pedro cactus. The visit lasts approximately one hour. Finally, arrive at your hotel around 4:00 PM.
