Description

Explore the Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt flat in the world, on a 3-day tour from Uyuni. Visit the Train Cemetery, the Salt Hotel, and Incahuasi Island. See the Ollague Volcano, the Stone Tree, and the Red Lagoon. Relax in the Polques Hot Springs and see the Laguna Verde. Day 1: Train Cemetery - Colchani - Salt Hotel - Incahuasi Island Start with a visit to the train cemetery to see the old locomotives. Then go to the community of Colchani, the gateway to the Salar, where you will find rustic handicraft workshops and the micro-processing of table salt. Continue with the expedition to the majestic Salar de Uyuni and make stops to see the salt extractions, the eyes of the salar, and the Playa Blanca salt hotel that currently only functions as a museum. Later, visit the most popular island of the Salar, Incahuasi Island, where you can walk and appreciate large extensions of cactus, marine rock fossils, and spectacular 360º views from the viewpoint. Day 2: Ollague Volcano Viewpoint - High Altitude Lagoons - Siloli Desert - Stone Tree - Red Lagoon Begin the day with breakfast at the salt lodge. Leave for the Ollague volcano viewpoint to appreciate a volcanic desert landscape and the scarce high Andean vegetation. Then visit the Chiarkota lagoon, Laguna Hedionda, Onda lagoon, and Ramaditas lagoon, which are surrounded by flamingos that use them as feeding and resting points during their migratory movements. Continue to the Siloli desert where you find the stone tree, a strange rocky shape. Continue to the Laguna Colorada, which is very striking for its reddish color. Day 3: Fumarolas - Polques Hot Springs - Laguna Verde - Valley of the Rocks - San Cristobal - Uyuni Start the day early with breakfast and departure to the fumaroles and cracks in the ground where volcanic lava and sulfurous gases are released. Continue to the hot springs, where you can take a bath and rest placidly. The water has a temperature of 25 to 32ºC. Continue the journey through the second desert on the tour, the Salvador Dali desert, which has an excellent panoramic view and resembles the landscape of the famous artist. Arrive at the green lagoon, located at the foot of the Licancabur volcano. Then head to the town of Uyuni, making stops to visit Villa Mar, Valle de las Rocas, the town of San Cristobal, and its stone church. Finally, continue to finish the tour in the town of Uyuni.
