Description
Itinerary We will pick you up at your hotel in Puno at 4:00 a.m. We assure you that the early start will be worth it! We will head towards the border between Peru and Bolivia, located in the town of Desaguadero. Here, we will enter Bolivia on our way to the capital. After four hours of traveling by road, we will arrive in La Paz and take a guided tour of the colonial neighborhood, Avenida 16 de Julio, and Avenida Mariscal Santa Cruz. Of course, we will enter the historic center to visit the 16th-century Church of San Francisco, the elegant neoclassical Cathedral of Our Lady of La Paz, and Plaza Murillo. Next, we will take a break and give you some free time to have lunch on your own, and continue the tour admiring the Convent of Santo Domingo and the Witches' Market, a place full of mystical and esoteric objects that you will love to explore. After the visit to La Paz, we will take the bus again to the archaeological site of Tiwanaku, the center of one of the most important pre-Columbian cultures in Bolivia. We will explore its structures, revealing all their secrets: the Kalasasaya Temple, the Akapana Pyramid, and the Gate of the Sun. We will also have the opportunity to admire the queros, or ceremonial vessels, as well as the walls decorated with figures of human faces called huaco-retratos. During the visit to Tiwanaku, we will learn many interesting facts about the Tiwanaku Empire, which extended across the central Andes to Lake Titicaca. At the end of the tour, you will have an overview of the cultural and heritage richness of Bolivia. With this feeling, we will cross the border back into Peru and will be in Puno between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.Includes
