Description

Day 1 At the indicated time we will pick you up from your hotel in Uyuni and begin a fascinating 2-day tour of the Uyuni Salt Flats. We will begin our excursion by visiting the Train Cemetery, a very special place within the already unique area of Uyuni. There, our guide will explain to us the reason why such a large number of trains and locomotives, from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, were completely abandoned and have survived to this day. Next, we will enter the immensity of the Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt desert in the world with almost 11,000 square kilometers. During our tour, we will visit its main tourist attractions, such as Colchani, the Salt Piles or the first hotel made with salt in the world, which today has become an interesting museum. We will stop to eat in the middle of the salt desert, thus uniting Bolivian gastronomy with the overwhelming white landscape of the Salar de Uyuni in a unique experience. After lunch, we will take a hiking route through Incahuasi Island, an isolated territory surrounded by the white desert where we can see giant cacti up to 10 meters high. To end the day, we will continue exploring the beauty of this peculiar desert while we wait for one of the most beautiful sunsets of your life. Do you have your camera ready? You will need it! We will finish our first day through the Uyuni Salt Flats returning to our hotel around 7:00 p.m. Day 2 After breakfast at the hotel, we will head to the colonial church of Tomave. This historic Bolivian temple is one of the great treasures of the country's baroque architecture and can boast of housing stories that will leave you speechless. Did you know that it was shelter for Bolivian troops during the Pacific War? Afterwards, we will go to the Saruvo hot springs, where you can relax while you take a bath in its facilities. After this stop, we will head to the different lagoons that the desert houses to see the K'asilla Lagoon and the Verde Lagoon. After eating, we will head back to Uyuni, where we will arrive around 6:00 p.m., thus ending our 2-day tour of the Uyuni Salt Flats.
